The hackathon kicks off on Monday, August 15 at 10 AM CST [1:00 AM AEST] and submissions will be due at 11:59 PM CDT [8:59 AM AEST] on Friday, August 26. You will have almost 2 weeks to work on your project.
Â
This hackathon will be fully virtual, so you can team up with folks across the globe (or work solo!) and participate from everywhere.Â
Â
We recommend making sure you’re very familiar with the time difference so your submission isn’t disqualified for being late! If you have concerns, please reach out to Katie Hoesley or Heather Barr - you can find both of them or tag @BCDevs on our Discord server.
Â
We want everyone, everywhere to be able to participate in #BigHackathon. We have a few solutions for those participating from across the world!Â
1. All lightning talks, AMAs, and other Zoom events will be recorded & recordings will be sent out to all registered participants promptly after the recordings are available.Â
2. We encourage anyone from a far-from-CDT region to reach out to our team so we can make sure your submissions are sent on-time at a time that isn't in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning.Â
We will work with you to make this easy!Â
Your teams will be building solutions to real problems that BC customers and/or developers really face! This could be an issue you face as a developer, an app you think should exist but doesn’t yet, or a widget you know everyone will love.
Â
The guidelines are intentionally vague so you can truly run wild - as long as whatever you build improves the BC ecosystem and interacts with BC APIs.Â
More details to come.
Register for the hackathon via this registration form.
Join our Discord server.
Establish a team! (You are welcome to work solo or with a team! Teams can only be up to 5 people and all team members must register for the hackathon individually)
If you are registering alone but would ideally like to join a team, be sure to register ASAP and jump into the Discord server to let people know you’re on the hunt! We fully support you finding a team, but won’t be providing a team for you.Â
Your team will submit a GitHub repo at the end of the hackathon. Please be SURE this repository was not initiated before 10AM CDT on August 15.
- Submission details, submission requirements and a scoring rubric will be made available to you when the hackathon begins.
All participants must be registered by EOD on Monday, August 15th, the day we kick off. If you're looking for a team to join, we encourage you to join Discord ASAP and post in the #team-up channel so you have the best chance of finding a team to join!Â
Again - it is TOTALLY fine to work alone! There is no need to join a team to participate.
If this is you, please register ASAP and post in the #team-up channel of our Discord server and post letting folks know you’d like to join a team. We hope everyone who wants to be on a team will find one, but if you don’t find a team, don’t worry! Submitting solo is completely fine and is a great chance to push yourself!Â
Join us at our first virtual AMA for BigHackathon: Summer '22! You'll have a chance to chat with members of our teams to help you feel ready to get hackin'!
Please check the #events channel in Discord for more details. If you're unable to attend but have questions, please post them in the #ama channel in Discord.
We've provided two AMA options so no matter where you're based you're able to get your questions answered!Â
